THE REVIEWING OF HISTORY ...appears
to take place at a time of hearing and understanding, only having an effect
after being spiritually broken. Compare similar passages: Deuteronomy 1-3 Joshua 8, 24 I Samuel 12 II Chronicles 34 Psalm 105-106 Isaiah 63 Acts 7:1-53 I
Corinthians 10:1-6 |

5. After this review, what did the people want to do? (9:38)
1. DISCUSS: Why do those within the Christian circle tend to shy away from Biblical history? Consider the following:
A) Is it the term “history”?
B) Is it the lack of focus on the “spiritual emphasis”?
C) Is it the judgment on the ignorance of the
nation of Israel?
2. WHY
is the study of history an important part of the Bible? I Cor. 10:6,
11-12
3. READ Neh. 9:2 again. Why would the Israelites “separate themselves from all strangers” before they confessed their sins?
Hints: Ezra 9:12-14; Is. 61:5; Matt. 6:5-8
4. REVIEW Question 4 above. How does the “THOU” and “WE” compare from the time of Israel to the time of today?
q Who actually is in view?
5. REFLECT on the “ history” (past events) of your life, the lives of your parents/grandparents. Which “THOU” and “WE” apply to your past events?
· What should be the response of a child of God? Psalm 78:4-8
·
Why? Psalm 132:12
“Now these things were our examples,
to the intent we should not lust after evil things, as they also lusted.”
-I Corinthians 10:6
· Thank the Lord for His mercy that He has not consumed us.
·
Pray that we may not lust after evil things, as
they lusted.
NEXT WEEK… Read Nehemiah 10-11 for the study.
